            CHILLER FALUTS AND TROUBLE SHOOTING

CHILLER TRABLE SHOOT

Today Topic is High pressure Discharge and Low pressure Discharge

1. High pressure Discharge?

2. Low pressure Discharge ?

High pressure Discharge

Fist step is what to Check in unit step by step

1. Flowing Build up of minerals on condenser tubes (water cooled chiller) Caused by bad water treatment?

2. Dirty Condenser ( Air cooled chiller )

3. Reduction of air flow ( Air cooled chiller )

4. Reduction of water flow in condenser ( water cooled chiller )

5.High return condenser water temperature ( water cooled )

6. Discharge shut of valve partially closed ( Both wanted/Air cooled chiller)

7. High ambient air temperature (Air cooled)

8. Over Charged with refrigerant?

9. Non Condensable in refrigerant loop

10. Faulty pressure switch

This 10 Steps To Checked The Unit So Now

How to solve this 10 problems ( what to do?

1.improve water treatment regime, clean condenser tubes

2. Clean surfaces of condenser tube and fins

3. Check for debris blocking air flow.

    Check condenser fan are working

Check for high compressor discharge pressure .

Low sub cooling, High compressor discharge temperature

4. Check by pass valve position, condenser pump are working strainers arenite blocked

5. Check cooling tower fan is working

Check cooling tower by pass valve position

6. Check valve position and open if needed

7. Ambient air above condenser design capabilities

8. Check pressure temperature and sight glasses around system compare and remove excess

Check for high discharge temperature and pressure

9. Parge non condensable check high discharge temperature

pressure and high discharge pressure with normal super heat

10. Compare data logs, Swap sensor and test

This 10 steps u follow and then solve the unit problem

Now we go to Low pressure Discharge

How to check Low pressure Discharge there is 5 steps

1. Suction valve partially closed

2. Under charged with refrigerant

3. Low ambient air temperature (air-cooled)

4. Low suction pressure

5. Dirty or obstructed evaporator

Solve This How To Fix

1. Check valve position and open

2. Check Temperature, pressure and sight glasses

Check for leakes, repair and top up as required

Check low suction pressure, high suction super heat

Medium high discharge temperature

3. Ambient air below condenser design capabilities

4. Covered in next side

5. Check evaporator tubes, consider cleaning

check for low compressor discharge pressure and low super heat

HVAC Types of Compressor

WHAT IS AIR COMPRESSOR

                                AIR COMPRESSOR

1. A compressor is a mechanical device that increases the pressure of gas or air by reducing its volume

2. Compressors are similar to pumps both increase the pressure on a fluid and both can transport the fluid through a pipe

3. As air or gases are Compressible, The compressor also reduces the volume of air or gas

Different types of Compressor

3.  Scroll Compressor

1. How to work Recipocating Compressor?

Recipocating Compressor use piston driven by a crank shaft.

They can be either stationary or portable, Can be single or multi staged and can be driven by electric motors or internal combustion engines

2. How work  Rotary compressor ?

                         Rotary compressor

These compressors are not of reciprocating nature there fore does not have any pistons and crankshaft.

Instead these compressors have screws, vanes scrolls, and other devices which rotate and thus compressor air or gas

The rotary compressor can be divided into two types one has blades or vanes that rotate with the shaft.

The other type has the blade which remains stationary and as part of the compressor housing assembly

3. How work scroll compressor

scroll compressor has one fixed scroll which remains stationary and another moving or orbiting scroll that rotates through the use of swing link.

When this happens the pockets of air or gas between the two scroll are slowly pushed to the center of the two scrolls, Causing the reduction of the volume of air or gas.

4. How work screw compressor?

The screw compressor uses a pair of helical rotars, Where it traps and compressors the air or gas as the rotors revolve in the cylinder.

The male rotor and the female rotor are built inside the cylinder.

                 Centrifugal Compressor

Centrifugal Compressor is a usually used in large capacity of Compression system.

In this compressor, the air or gas is moved in a circular motion that known as centrifugal force

An impeller which is a disk with radial blades spins rapidly inside this housing causing the gas to gain velocity

How HVAC Noise points

How HVAC Noise points

                                          How HVAC Noise points

The major source of noise in air conditioning system is due to air velocity and noise from fan

The 5 path of noise

1.Duct borne noise

2. Radiated equipment noise

3. Break in noise

4. Break out noise

5. Terminal end noise

                                             DUCT

1. Duct borne noise:- it is caused by the flow of air and directly dependent on the velocity of air

2. Radiated equipment noise:- it is caused by vibration of equipment and inherent sound pressure of the equipment

3. Break - in - noise :- it is radiated equipment noise that enters the duct work and propagates down the duct system

4. Break - out - noise :- it transmits through the wall of the duct

5. Terminal end noise :- it is caused by the air flows at the terminal devices such as diffuser or register

What is code ?

Code :- 1. A code is a standard that has been adopted by one or more governmental bodies and has the enforce by the Law r

When it has been incorporated into a business contract

2. Mandatory only it regulatory body in your country had adapted the said code as lows, other wise, code will serve as generally accepted guidelines for design, Fabrication,Construction and installation

What is standard ?

A standard can be defined as a set of technical definitions and guidelines how to instructions for designers and manufactures

They serve as a common language, defining quality and establishing safety criteria

Standard is required ?

1. Standard are document that establish engineering or technical requirements for products, practies methods or operations

2. Build confidence about quality in users

3. Lower the cost of production as required ments are standardised

What is Constant Air Volume ?

2. In a simple constant air volume system the supply air flow rate is constant but the supply air temperature is varied to meet the thermal loads of a space

3. Most constant air volume system are small and serve a single thermal zone

Constant Air Volume

1. HVAC Systems require high air flow rates and higher amounts of energy for heating and cooling this increasing utility costs

2. Constant Air Volume unit operates the fan and compressor at full capacity until the temperature drops to as specified setting

Then the compressor turns off the on/off cycling is not efficient at keeping the space at a constant temperature

3. Constant Air Volume systems are becoming            less

Common in new building they are particularly

Common in simple systems where fan coil units are supplied with a constant volume of fresh air
